Matthew 6:16-18

Is it possible to give, pray, serve, worship, and even fast—yet miss the very heart of true devotion? In Matthew 6:16-18, Jesus exposes a dangerous temptation lurking beneath every act of worship: the desire to be seen by men. The religious leaders of His day turned fasting into a performance, seeking applause that belonged to God alone. But Jesus calls His followers to something deeper—a life lived not for the approval of others, but for the glory of the Father who sees in secret.
