Matthew 7:1-5

Maranatha. Come, Lord Jesus. How could this not be the cry of our hearts when we look at a world filled with murder, abuse, exploitation, hatred, brokenness, sickness, and death? We cry, “Lord, come and make it right.” But what if, before Jesus points to the sin around us, He points to the sin within us? What if the problem is not only the darkness we see in the world, but the blindness we refuse to see in ourselves? Jesus said, “Do not judge, so that you will not be judged.” Before you examine your brother, examine yourself. Before you remove the speck, deal with the log. Because the heart that cries, “Come, Lord,” must also be willing to cry, “Search me, Lord.” Today at The Church, Matthew 7:1–5: Search Me.
